An Evening Supporting My Road to LA 2028
In 2027, the British ILCA 6 qualification series will determine which sailor is selected to represent Great Britain at the Los Angeles Olympic Games. It will be one of the most important periods of my campaign, and I want to go into it knowing that I am in the strongest possible position to perform.
A key part of that is ensuring I have the funding required to train and compete at the highest level. I am incredibly fortunate to receive support from UK Sport and the National Lottery through the British Sailing Team, but the reality is that this funding does not cover the full cost of an Olympic medal winning campaign. Donations from the evening will help fund a new boat and equipment that will be used for the Olympic trials, training camps in the LA 2028 Olympic venue as well as funding events for the 2027/2028 season.
While the aim of this evening is to raise funds, it is an equally important opportunity for me to thank the many people who have supported me throughout my sailing journey. So many individuals have played a part since I first stepped into a Cadet dinghy at Waldringfield in 2008. LA 2028 will mark twenty years since I began racing, and I would love to celebrate that journey with the people who have helped make it possible.
What to Expect
The evening will include refreshments and canapés, an Auction of Promises, the screening of a short film about my journey produced by my great friend and talented filmmaker Alice Callow, and a Q&A session where you can ask me anything about campaigning for the Olympics, sailing an ILCA, the highs and lows of elite sport, and everything in between.
I am also delighted that my former school, Alleyn's, has chosen to support me as an alumni by generously providing the venue and helping to spread the word through its alumni network. The school played a huge role in supporting my sailing during my time there, and I am incredibly grateful to have them involved.
